On 09/19/09 at VFW Post 1503 in Dale City VA at 12:00noon there will be a Memorial Ride in honor of SGT David Alan Ruhren who gave his life in Iraq in December 2004. David was a local boy - Stafford. This is what his mother, Sonja Ruhren, sent to me:
Where as all donations will be split in half & awarded to 'David Alan Ruhren Scholarship Fund' & 'The David Alan Ruhren Children of Fallen Soldiers Fund'. These foundations were created to help a child achieve their goals & dreams. Without these funds, some may never realize their true potential. We are hoping to make this a day that won't soon be forgotten, with special events. His (David) own personal bike will be on display as w/a route to go by Davey in his honor & to show respect (I'm a little lost as to what w/a means!). Help honor the memory of a soldier and all who have come before, after, and continue to fight for our Country every day. We would like to ask for a donation of $20 per person to participate in the ride. Ride will start at 12noon, but we ask that you get there early to have space in line. There will be stands set up starting as early as 8am in the parking lot. This Memorial Ride is being sponsored by VFW Post 1503 and Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Virginia Chapter 27-1. We are looking for more people and establishments that can make this an event to never forget.
