Itchetucknee Springs State Park

One of my favorite places on the planet, I have been down this river a few times... with and without a tube! We'll leave early, the sun will be up, and enjoy the quiet Sunday roads up thru the Ocala National Forest, thru Cross Creek, Micanopy, west a little thru High Springs to Fort White and Itchetucknee Springs State Park~

I have 20 tubes (new, plastic, folded tightly, less than a buck apiece, big enough for one) that are already being stowed in the Corolla... Rory is driving the car, the boys don't want to miss this and Rory loves the Itchetucknee~

I will have brunch/lunch in the car... breads, crackers, cheeses, meats and sweets and of course some fruit.... so we can hit the river by 12... 1 1/2 hours down the river and the tram will bring us back to our bikes/cars... light lunch/dinner in Ft White, there are a couple cool choices... home by 7 or 8... sun still shining~ Approximately 300 mile Long Ride~ Great place to hang out for those who don't want to swim or tube~

JANUARY 14, 2008 TO JULY 24, 2008: WE'VE HAD 67 RIDES & HAVE RIDDEN APPROX. 9,970 MILES

Steve & Cindy, that's the secret....taking 150 pictures, knowing that only half of them will come out....somewhat hard at first, always concerned about dropping the camera....the tough ones are the ones taken on curves at 70 mph..........don't tell Deb.....she'd wack me......

We missed you too, Dino. Weather was great for the most part - sprinkled just a bit on the way up, and a bit more on the way back, but not bad. Mike, Cece and Johnny, Bob and Amanda and I broke off at 75 on the way back, and shot straight south. I got home at 7:00, before the witching hour. Tina, what route did the rest of you take back? Another great ride with a great group of people!

    •  BIG Thanks to Tina... I had a blast, sorry I was chatting with my new friend Susan on the back so much that I was slowing down the convoy. Some of the roads Tina picked out were new to me, so it was a pleasure to explore. The springs were great and refreshing. At one of our stops I was asking outloud if there was a ATM machine around that I needed to get some cash before I went into the state park. What a great group of friends. Tom came back over a few minutes later and handed me a $20 and 5 minutes later Johnny did the same. BIG THANKS this group rocks. One the way back Lone Wolf and I hit I-75 for a 75 mph run south, got home at 8:30 with just 3 final miles in the rain. It was a pleasure to meet Susan and have her on the back of my bike, she is a great person. 350 total miles.. THANKS for a great weekend.
    •  Just a great day! Many thanks to Tina for leading this ride (U-turns and all) and to Rory for all the hard work he put in to make this enjoyable for all. First time for us tubing down the river--just awesome experience. It was a fantastic idea of having a family outing--it seems like all the kids (big and small) had a great time. It's always fun to meet up with a great group of people to share new experiences with. It was nice meeting and talking with Susan and at dinner, it was nice sitting with Tina and Jim. Jim thanks for the bit of history on the town of Micanopy. Definitely going to have to watch "Doc Hollywood" again. Thanks again to all for a great day. Can't wait for the next time!
    •  This was one of my favorite outings with this group, the ride was very organized and scenic, the trek down the river was relaxing and fun, all-in-all, a great family day.

Another great ride! I certainly enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones! The scenery on the way up was great - worth every mile.

Wow! Thanx to all you guys for hanging on such a long ride! Next time, I promise to prelim the route... now y'all see why I do it?? What a great morning ... again purrfect temp and great job keeping the parade together!! It would have truly been a four hour haul had I not pulled two UTurns~ The river was awesome, next time we'll tube longer~ I came home the long way, did 314 for a lil while (oops, backtrac to 314A and a scenic loopOOPS thru Moss Bluff!!)... ALMOST the same route home as up,.. home safe and dry by 9:30~ I saw 4 deer (besides the one we saw on the way up)... 2 hawks... not a lotta people and no rain.. a gorgeous ride, Thanx Y'All~
    • Jack G (+2 guests)
Itchetucknee Springs is an awesome place and sitting in a tube floating down the river was well worth the long ride there. The entire ride home my son and his friend couldn't stop talking about the all fun they had. Tina did a great job with selecting some great roads. I have a few new ones that I can now add to my list. It was great seeing friends and made a few new ones. The weekday riders really are a fun group.

A very nice place to take the whole family, great to see all of my new friends again, Tina did an excellent job as well as kevin and others. We all had a great time.

WOW....THAT HAD TO BE A 1st. It was a pleasure meeting Johnny & CC (Ceia) & family, Lora & Chris, & Bob & Amanda. Rodney, it was fantastic to see you in the moring, and Jack, I hope you & your son & friend enjoyed your first ride with us.....and to all the "before riders"....Super Fantastic riding with you again.....Hey, did we stay together the whole way or what....got a little dizzy in Micanopy (nice town), but ya know, that's part of the adventure...and like Bob (Bob & Amanda) said, he needed the other side of his body to catch up on the tan......Some of us, me, Rory, Johnny, Jody, The Thurston & Lovey, Tom & Marianne and Jack G are still wondering why we stopped just short of the park.....weather wasn't bothering us.....Itchitucknee was a blast, Tina & Rory, THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH, for the chow, the pravillion & the tubes. River Ride was SUPER FANTASTIC...next time we go to the top...sorry about the water pictures....cheap camera....As always, can't wait for our next adventure....
